Field Guide
This is a quick over view of the breeds of rabbits that I carry in my barn. This should help you in deciding if you really want the long term commitment of owning a rabbit or to help decide which breed is best for you. This is also where you can find everything you need to know about proper care & healthy feeding.
Holland Lops
The Holland Lop was developed during the 1950's & 1960's in the Netherlands by Adrian Decock. This breed was created through experimental crosses of French & English Lops with Netherland Dwarfs. Brought to the U.S. in 1976 & was accepted by ARBA in 1980.
The Holland Lop is the smallest & the most popular of the lop-eared rabbits. They are very mellow, smaller rabbits that are easy for beginners to handle & care for.
Their bone structure is supposed to look large & massive but they actually have a fine bone structure & they don't weigh that much. They have broad shoulders, deep chests & short thick legs.
